Only a few thousand individuals of sea sturgeon have remained in European rivers and scientists are in a hurry to reproduce the stock by using artificial reproduction methods. According to the news, the artificial reproduction of sturgeon became successful on June 25, 2007. If all goes as planned the artificially reproduced sturgeon will be released in the wild, in the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, to sustain the wild population.
